Jim Bergles wrote a nice review of the 16th East Troy BG Festival for the BluegrassBlog. He had a few nice things to say about LBB.

"Right after the band scramble was the WAMI award wining bluegrass band from Milwaukee called the Liberty Bluegrass Band. By the end of their set,

their table was almost cleared of every CD they had brought with to sell. Their new album called “Going Burlap” sold out fast. One of the songs that the

crowd really loved was called “Black Lung”. It was transposed from a poem by Hazel Dickens. With the way things are going for them, I expect to see

them starting a tour very soon."

Jim was watching our CD  table while we played and we did in fact sell out. We sold 36 CDs on Sat and 8 on Sunday (we weren't even playing on Sunday).

We normally sell around 7 CDs per show but never did I think we would sell 44 in one weekend.

Jim was one of my beginner jammers from the FIXX Jam I was hosting until very recently. He came a long way during my 1 1/2 yrs of hosting the jam. I

always encouraged Jim and now, he has a firm grasp on this music. Jim is a huge Gibson Brothers fan. Good job Jim!

Liberty's second studio album is set to be released at NYC's Brooklyn folksy Jalopy Theater on Aug 1, 2009. We'll be playing selections from the newest

CD including four original releases. Our new cd is titled "Goin' Burlap". Our title is a play off our overall cd sales of finally making burlap status.  Selection of

songs include Lynard Skynard's Simple Man, two Chris Knight songs including Becky's Bible and grooving' Highway Junkie, edgy instrumental Nashville

Blues in Dm and the haunting Black Lung in Dm. Our newest CD also includes an old time traditional gospel tune Two Coats. Not to be missed is an

unbelievable song called Why Not Me written a relative of an LBB member. All in all, a very satisfying project.

The Liberty Bluegrass Band is pleased to announce a new marketing partnership with Pinecastle Record’s Mountain Ridge Music Marketing for the

remaining of 2009. After winning the 2009 WAMI (WI Area Music Industry) Bluegrass Artist of the Year Award and a full band schedule including the

Bluegrass Caravan, there is plenty to advise the media about on our upcoming “2009 Sharing Our Stimulus Tour”.

Liberty Bluegrass Band will use the services of MountainRidge to advise media of select 2009 shows, as well as coordinate interviews as needed.

MountainRidge was specifically selected because of their close association to bluegrass music and it’s fans.

We won the 08' WAMI CD Roulette. We were up against 17 bands of different genres. Each band plays a 90 second clip from one song and we played

Rank Stranger. Four professional judges scored the entries and I guess they all really liked our song. We win a paid slot at one of the 09' Summerfest,

State Fair or Bastile Days stages. Just learned we will be playing WI State Fair, World Cafe' Stage. Date and time TBA.
